Steph Ting

Hi.

I’m Steph. I’m an orthodontist and photographer living in San Francisco. Welcome to my blog!

This is Biomechanics Lab

Biomechanics lab equates to spending three hours chugging through tedious busy work only to find that your calculations are off. Our last lab on net joint forces and net joint moments was no different. After painstakingly writing out a page of calculations, I found out that I switched the positive/negative sign of a joint moment somewhere along the way. Precision and intense focus is the key to biomechanics.

I'm always amused when people outside of our department claim that kinesiology is an easy major. I'm not saying that kinesiology is comparable to biomedical engineering or theoretical mathematics, but it's not as easy as people think it is. Biomechanics is the hardest kinesiology class that I have taken thus far. The class is tantamount to applied physics in a way to deconstruct motion and movement.

This class isn't a cakewalk.

And if you don't know what kinesiology entails, please don't insult me by saying "how hard can kinesiology possibly be? Isn't it a joke major?"
